5 Best PageProofer Alternatives of 2025

Some agencies find that PageProofer doesn’t quite meet their needs as a website feedback and bug reporting tool, leading them to seek out an alternative. While PageProofer can be a great option, it does have some weaknesses:

  • The screenshot and video recording feature don’t work on mobile devices, so mobile testing and feedback is challenging
  • The only annotation feature you get is a pen to draw on the screen (no arrows, rectangles, or text)
  • It can be pricey for smaller teams who need integrations with their existing project management tools

I used to run a web design agency and have tested PageProofer in addition to most of the other feedback tools on the market. So whether you’re here because you’re looking to find something with features they don’t have or to see if you can lower your bill, this article will explore five of the best PageProofer alternatives.

For each tool, we'll examine how its key features stack up against PageProofer, the pros and cons of each, pricing, and much more.

1. Feedbucket

Feedbucket website header

Best for: Agencies building websites for clients and seeking an easy way to organize feedback with project management integrations.

Our own solution, Feedbucket is a tool that’s the result of our extensive experience dealing with challenging client feedback workflows during our agency years.

Easily collect client feedback directly on the website

Setting up Feedbucket on a website requires just a simple script tag. Which means clients don't need to create an account or download an additional browser extension.

Submit annotated screenshots as feedback with all technical details automatically captured.

PageProofer's approach is different. By default, only users with project access can submit feedback. While you can enable guest feedback, the system becomes confusing with various settings for who can see what.

Most clients end up needing PageProofer accounts, which is often easier said than done. It creates unnecessary friction that slows down website feedback.

Annotate screenshots and video feedback

When clients need to leave feedback, Feedbucket gives them more than just a simple comment box. As a website annotation tool, Feedbucket gives you a complete toolkit to work with:

  • Annotated screenshots: Clients can annotate issues as they arise. Unlike PageProofer's drawing tool, Feedbucket offers shapes, text annotations, and drawing tools. Each piece of feedback comes with a screenshot attached, making it much easier for your team to understand what the client means.
  • Video recordings: Sometimes screenshots just don't cut it. Instead, clients can record their screen and voice to show exactly what's happening. It's essentially like integrating a screen recording tool directly into your site, eliminating the need for external applications.
Record video feedback directly from the site without installing any extension.

In addition to its limited annotation tools, one of the biggest issues with PageProofer is that it uses the browser's "Share your screen" API for screenshots, which simply doesn't work on mobile devices. This means using PageProofer to test on mobile and give feedback is impossible.

In contrast, Feedbucket works on every possible screen size and device. We use a script tag that doesn't rely on screen sharing APIs. This means clients can submit feedback from their phones and tablets just as easily as from desktop.

Get feedback on design files and mockups

Want to avoid those painful "can we completely redesign this?" conversations after you've already built the entire site? Upload your mockups, wireframes, and other file attachments to Feedbucket first.

Reviewing designs across mobile, tablet, and desktop views saves you from nasty surprises later.

Upload each device variation, share the link, and watch clients catch responsive design issues before they become expensive development problems. Clients can use Feedbucket to note exactly what they want changed while you're still in Figma, not after you've spent weeks in code.

Integrate with your existing project management tool

PageProofer uses a built-in kanban board system to manage tasks and projects. This requires each team member and client to create accounts just to see feedback status and collaborate. Which can drive up the cost of your subscription.

While PageProofer does offer integrations with tools like Asana, Jira, Slack, and Trello, this is just a fraction of the PM integrations Feedbucket offers. Feedbucket also syncs with ClickUp, Monday, Github, Gitlab, and Zapier.

We built Feedbucket with the belief that most agencies already use project management tools, and that's exactly where your team should handle feedback. Why force everyone into yet another platform?

There are lots of other integrations.

That's why our integrations offer complete two-way sync:

  • New feedback automatically becomes tasks in your existing project management tool, landing right in the project you specify
  • Comments sync directly between the website feedback and your PM tasks
  • When your team marks something as complete in your PM tool, it automatically resolves the feedback in Feedbucket and notifies the client
  • Your team can communicate with clients directly from your PM tool by mentioning @feedbucket - no need to switch platforms

The result? Your existing workflow stays intact while your feedback process becomes infinitely more organized.

What real customers are saying about Feedbucket

"We've purchased or tested the majority of tools on the market for getting website feedback from our clients and Feedbucket has to be the best!"

— Mark Tenney, Owner, Digital Church
"Feedbucket saves us so much time and effort deciphering feedback from clients--totally eliminates the need for a shared Google doc or email threads with screenshots!"

— Anna Jennings, Owner, Theatrum Mundi

Pricing

Feedbucket's Pro plan starts at $39/month, and the Agency plan is $89/month. This is significantly more affordable than PageProof's $199/month plan for full agency functionality.

You can try Feedbucket yourself with a 14-day free trial, no credit card needed, to see the difference.

2. MarkUp.io

Markup.io website header

Best for: Collecting feedback on live websites or sites where you can't install a script

MarkUp.io takes a different approach from PageProofer by using proxy technology. To use it, you don't need to install anything on your website. Just enter the URL, and it'll generate a shareable link for submitting feedback and collaborating on the site.

This makes MarkUp.io particularly useful for getting feedback on live websites or sites you don't control. This is something PageProofer struggles with since it requires installation.

However, there are some limitations with this proxy method. You can't take screenshots of websites that use Basic Auth, which is commonly used on staging sites. You can't provide feedback on mobile devices either, which is similar to PageProofer's mobile limitations.

The biggest challenge is the complete lack of project management integrations. MarkUp.io mainly offers manual exports, which means clicking individually on each piece of feedback to export to your PM tool.

  • Uses proxy technology so doesn't require website installation

Cons

  • Can't capture screenshots on websites protected by Basic Auth
  • Doesn't have integrations with project management tools beyond manual exports

Pricing

In early 2025, MarkUp.io restructured its pricing model and discontinued the free plan. Now, pricing starts at $79 per month for the Pro plan.

3. Ruttl

Ruttl website header

Best for: When you also need to collect feedback on videos

Ruttl offers three main features: website feedback, mobile feedback, and video feedback. At first glance, this might seem impressive. But many users report that the tool tries to do too many things at once, leading to reliability issues.

While I prefer not to criticize other software solutions given the complexity of building apps, my testing experience with Ruttl revealed several issues. This isn't just my experience, however. Users in the Facebook group TheAdminBar also cite multiple problems with reliability and support.

My recommendation? Test it on your own website to make sure it works properly before committing.

Features

  • Works with a proxy setup, eliminating the need for website installation
  • Allows feedback for websites, web apps, mobile apps, videos, images, and PDFs

Pros

  • Maintains multiple versions of the assets you review
  • Allows you to edit text, CSS, and images directly, which you can submit as feedback

Cons

  • Integration generates a task in your PM tool with a Ruttl link, without syncing data
  • Like other proxy solutions, Ruttl struggles with feedback on websites behind Basic Auth

Pricing

Ruttl has a free plan that's pretty basic and not suitable for client work. The platform uses a per-user pricing model ($12, $18, and $30 per month). As an agency, you'll probably need their Pro plan at $18 per user per month since the Starter plan only gives you 3 projects.

4. Marker.io

Marker.io website header

Best for: Performing internal QA on your own agency's web assets

Marker.io can be a good choice for gathering reports from team members and managing bug tracking for your own sites. For example, it has QA capabilities like network tracking, session replay, and console log capture.

It's less ideal for collecting client feedback. But one unique feature is its ability to customize the Marker.io widget for team members and clients. This lets team members (but not clients) set priorities or assign tasks directly through the widget.

However, Marker.io has some limitations for client feedback scenarios. The tool lacks video feedback capabilities, which can be important for explaining complex issues.

  • Direct integrations with project management tools, including 2-way sync

Cons

  • Doesn't support video feedback
  • Focused primarily on technical feedback rather than general creative review

Pricing

Marker.io's Starter Plan ($59/month) provides basic tools. But if your team uses project management tools and wants the issue sync feature (most agencies would), you'd need their Team plan at $199/month.

5. BugHerd

BugHerd website header

Best for: When you want sticky-note style feedback directly on web elements

BugHerd is a popular tool for website feedback that's been around since 2011. It allows clients and teams to collaborate directly on the website through an on-page interface.

What stands out about BugHerd is its sticky-note style feedback system. Users can pin feedback directly to specific elements on a webpage, making it clear exactly what needs to be changed.

However, there's the critical issue with BugHerd. All the features you actually need as an agency are locked behind their Premium plan at $150/month. Without this plan, you're stuck using a browser extension, which creates the same mobile limitations as PageProofer.

  • Automatically captures technical metadata to make the debugging process easier

Pros

  • Has a built-in kanban board that supports custom workflows, assignments, and prioritization
  • Supports video feedback and annotations to better communicate nuanced issues

Cons

  • Has limited integrations with no deep two-way connections
  • More expensive than most alternatives for comparable functionality

Pricing

BugHerd offers pricing plans ranging from $50 to $150 a month. However, to avoid requiring your clients to download browser extensions and enable proper collaboration, you'll need their Premium plan at $150/month. This makes BugHerd significantly more expensive than alternatives offering similar core features.

Next Steps: Choosing the Best PageProofer Alternative for Your Company

We've covered five different PageProofer alternatives, each with their own strengths and ideal use cases. For web agencies specifically, we recommend trying Feedbucket's free 14-day trial, no cc required for serveral reasons:

  • It was built by a former agency owner who understands the specific challenges of getting feedback from clients, tracking progress, and managing website launches.
  • It doesn't have mobile limitations. Feedbucket works on every device without the technical restrictions that limit PageProofer and some alternatives on this list.
  • More than a website feedback tool, Feedbucket is also a tool to get feedback at all stages of web design. It supports feedback on design files, mockups, and websites.
  • It offers deep project management integrations with two-way sync. We designed them to improve your website development process without changing your existing workflow.
  • It doesn't require you to set up client accounts or create logins for each user. This eliminates the friction that often prevents client and web agencies from adopting tools.

The key is finding a tool that reduces friction for your clients while streamlining your team's workflow. PageProofer's mobile limitations, account requirements, and separate platform approach create unnecessary barriers that can slow down your review process.

You can try Feedbucket yourself with a 14-day free trial, no credit card needed, to see the difference.
